The bit

The kids want in

No photograph of either boy’s face goes on this site. The drawn portraits on the crew page are the exception, and they are drawings. Rather than be left out of the pictures, they started hiding behind whatever the aisle had: a frying pan, a storage bin, a pillow, a steam iron. It was their idea, it is now the format, and it is funnier than a posed shot was ever going to be.

Carter, same idea. All four of us are on every trip and none of the boys’ faces go on this site, so they hide behind whatever is nearest. waterbury

Send us yours

If your kids do this at your Costco, Carter and Mathew would love to see it. One rule before anything else: send it only if you are their parent or guardian, and say so in the email. We don’t take a photograph of a child from anybody else, however you came by it.

Then the same rules we hold ourselves to. Face covered by whatever they picked off the shelf, no names, and nothing with a school, a team or a town on the shirt, because clothing identifies a child across a set of pictures just as well as a face does. Ask them first; if they say no, that is the end of it, and it is the end of it here too.

We write back and ask again before anything goes on the site, and if you don’t answer we don’t publish it. Say stop later and it comes down. Anything we don’t publish is deleted rather than filed away, and we never sell or share any of it. hello@buckfiftyproject.com.
